This nightclub (1957-1967) was deep in the heart of the Sunset Strip at 8514 Sunset Boulevard, next door to Dino's Lodge (near the corner of La Cienega and Sunset). It was an Eddie Cochran/Sharon Sheely hangout. House bands started out with Wesley Reynolds & the House Rockers, Baker Knight, Jett Powers (P.J. Proby), Larry Bright and Gerry McGhee & the Cajuns who evolved into The Candy Store Prophets (they recorded backing tracks for the first Monkees album). By the mid-'60s the Sea Witch would host gigs by The Seeds, The Doors, Peanut Butter Conspiracy, The Brain Train, The Sound Machine, Lyme & Cybelle, Larry Barnes & the Creation, The Straightjackets (advertised here in late '65) and others. If you know someone else who played the Sea Witch, fill me in. - Domenic Priore, author of "Riot on Sunset Strip: Rock 'n' Roll's Last Stand in Hollywood"
